BIOS -> Tools -> EZFlash

Downdate

Ein BIOS-Downgrade funktioniert nicht mit EZFlash, sondern nur mit dem DOS-Tool AFUDOS (AFUDOS229ES.zip), welches zusammen mit der BIOS-Datei (beides unzipped) auf einen bootbaren USB-Stick kopiert werden muss. Mit dem USB-Stick dann den PC booten und das (ältere) BIOS installieren mittels 

AFUDOS /i506.ROM

wobei 506.ROM der Name der BIOS-Datei ist.

Nach Installation von BIOS 0806 über das vorhandene BIOS 0506 bootete Linux nicht mehr, sondern blieb direkt beim Starten des Kernels hängen. Der Asus-Support hat mir daraufhin ein CMOS-Reset nahegelegt, was das Problem dann auch behoben hat.

CMOS-Reset:

  1. Stromversorgung vom Rechner trennen
  2. Knopfbatterie heraus nehmen
  3. Jumper CLRTC umstecken und 10-15 min warten
  4. Jumper CLRTC wieder umstecken in den Ausgangszustand
  5. Knopfbatterie wieder einsetzen
  6. Stromstecker wieder anschließen und Rechner neu starten
  7. Im BIOS mit F5 die Standartwerte laden und speichern Sie mit F10.

Partitionierung

Außer /boot kann alles per LVM verwaltet werden. Beispiel für openSUSE 11.2:
